ACTIVITY: Create a stethoscope.
Create a Stethoscope!
Materials
- Duct tape
- Scissors
- Plastic funnel
- Cardboard tube (empty paper towel roll)
- Stopwatch or clock that counts seconds
Instructions
- Insert the funnel into the cardboard tube until it fits snugly.
- Secure with tape.
- To use, place the round end of the cardboard onto the chest of a volunteer (please see an adult guardian for this portion of the activity). Place your ear against the opening of the funnel. Count the number of beats for 15 seconds and multiply by 4. This is the heart rate.
