Dr. Ismael Muvingi: Home

Ismael Muvingi is a Professor of Conflict Resolution at Nova Southeastern University, Florida. During Zimbabwe’s war for liberation, Ismael worked for the Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace in Rhodesia, going into war zones and recording the stories of unarmed civilians caught in the middle of the fighting. After Zimbabwe’s independence, Muvingi practiced law in Zimbabwe for 18 years. In North America, Ismael worked for Catholic Relief Services spearheading a legislative advocacy campaign. Thereafter, he taught conflict resolution at Menno Simons College, Canada before joining Nova Southeastern University. His research interests include transitional justice, decolonization of knowledge and sustainability.
