3D Printing: Policy

3D Printing Policies

HPD Library offers 3D printing to our students, faculty, and staff for exploring and creating customized objects for medical education, research, and patient care.

Policy

3D printing is a free service available to HPD students, faculty, and staff.

Library's 3D printers may only be used for educational, research, and patient care projects.

HPD Library reserves the right to refuse any print request.

3D printers cannot be used to create objects prohibited by local, state, or federal law or that violates NSU policies.

3D printers cannot be used to create objects that are in violation of another's intellectual property rights. 3D print files must be from the public domain or original 3D designs.

Our service is designed for rapid prototyping, not mass production. Printing multiple copies of the same file will not be approved.

Print jobs will be accepted Monday-Friday (9am-5pm) and are printed on a first come, first serve basis with the exception of patient care objects.

Print job times vary greatly due to many factors (size, complexity, design stability, print queue length), therefore the HPD Library cannot guarantee specific delivery times.

Only HPD Library staff will have hands-on access to the 3D printers.

HPD Library cannot guarantee model quality, stability, or the confidentiality of designs.

HPD library staff are not responsible for removing a printed object's rafts and supports.
