The NSU Libraries provide a vast array of online and onsite resources and services to help our Sharks keep swimming forward. Resources include popular fiction and academic non-fiction books, multimedia materials, full text e-journals and databases, research and course guides, study rooms and spaces, and access to innovative technologies and labs, such as 3D printing and digital media. Services include one-on-one librarian consultations to learn how to use library databases and resources, research and resource evaluation support, publication and citation support, workshops and programs, and more!

How to Submit an Appointment Request for the Alvin Sherman Library:

 1) Use our online request form.

  • On the form, type your contact information and tell us a little about your research topic/assignment. (en español)

  • Appointments can be held online in Zoom or by phone. More...

 2) Tell us your availability.

  • The more options you provide, the quicker we can fulfill your request.

  • A librarian will email you a meeting time based on your preferences.

 3) Make requests in advance.

  • Requests must be made at least two business days in advance.

  • Appointments may last up to 30 minutes.

  • For more immediate assistance, contact our Reference Desk.

 


Alvin Sherman Library Appointment Policy

  • Library appointments are intended to teach patrons how to use the library and its resources.

    • Librarians can demonstrate how to use specific library tools, including citation resources (APA, MLA, Chicago).

    • Librarians are prohibited from doing patrons’ research or school-specific assignments and from editing/proofreading patrons' papers or citations.

  • Students enrolled in Health Profession Division (HPD) or Law programs should contact their respective NSU Library to request an appointment.

  • Evening and weekend appointments are limited and may be available on a case-by-cases basis.

  • Follow-up or additional appointments must be requested after the previous appointment has been completed.

  • Extended appointments may be scheduled on a case-by-case basis.

  • Patrons must be on time for their appointments. Patrons who are more than 10 minutes late will be asked to reschedule.
