Please remember to check licenses when using someone else’s content.

Google images – the site is dedicated to searching for images and works like all other products from the company, with a search box centrally located on a white background. Although some images might be available for free, never assume that if it came up in Google results, it is simply up for grabs without attribution.

Pro tip: on the results page use the Usage Rights filter; hover over the image of your choice to see if it is licensable. Once you click on an image, you get access to the license details which will inform you what you can do with that image. This will help you decide which images can be used in your presentation.

EveryPixel – this search engine allows you to select free & paid, paid only or free only. This robust search engine indexes 50 paid and free stock image websites.  

Openverse was formerly known as Creative Commons Search. Users can search for images and audio and results can be filtered by copyright license, among other choices.

Pixabay is another resource that gives access to visual (photos, illustrations, drawings), audio, video and animated content.

Pexels is an image search engine, but it also allows you to search for video.

iStock by Getty Images offers photos, affordable HD and 4K video clips, editable vectors and more. Some free content is available, but most of what is on offer is available for purchase. Read more about licenses on the website.

 Unsplash is home to over 3 million free high-resolution images. Their license allows for free usage for commercial and non-commercial purposes.

Negative Space  has CC0 licensed images that are completely free for personal or commercial use.

Pixnio is a large archive of public domain images & free stock photos. License available on the website.

Freeimages.com offers not only photos, but also illustrations, graphics and vectors. Filter by type: photos, vectors, clipart, PSD, icons. By downloading content from FreeImages.com, you accept the terms and conditions of their license agreement.

Pics4Learning is a curated image library that is safe and free for education.

Freepik allows you to choose from a variety of formats: photos, illustrations, vectors, fonts, text effects and mockups. Consult the license agreement for details about what is permitted. 

The Noun Project is a diverse and extensive collection of over 5 million icons and photos.

Victeezy is another good source of photography, videos & stunning vector illustrations.

Pikwizard’s offer is very generous, with no attribution required; stock images and videos on offer are royalty free.

PxHere - all photos on the website are licensed under the Creative Commons Zero (CC0) license so they are completely free to use.

Audio

Freesound.org - aims to create a huge collaborative database of audio snippets, samples, recordings, and all sorts of bleeps, ... released under Creative Commons licenses that allow their reuse.
