Sergeant Omar Osbourne has served as a criminal justice professional for the past 12 years. He is currently a member of the Broward Sheriff's Office Social Justice Task Force. He has several certifications and earned a master's degree in law and policy from Nova Southeastern University.

Building Affordability: Leveraging Zoning Policy and Trust Funds to Expand Housing Access

 

Explore practical strategies for addressing the affordable housing crisis through local policy innovation. Learn how one municipality updated its inclusionary zoning ordinance to incentivize private development of affordable units. The session will also share how the jurisdiction plans to leverage SHIP funds and trust fund contributions to launch a Community Land Trust aimed at preserving long-term housing affordability. Participants will gain insights into combining policy reform with forward-looking housing strategies.
