Foreign and International Legal Research

This guide provides resources meant to assist with foreign and international legal research.

Using Google for Legal Research

Google can be useful for many preliminary research tasks such as finding a topic, preemption checking, etc.  Google News is a good place to search for stories on a particular topic.  Google Scholar can help you to learn what other scholars have said about an issue.

Advanced Searching Using Google

Google can make searching websites easier and more thorough using its advanced search.

Google Advanced Search: https://www.google.com/advanced_search

Type the name of a website you want to search into the box marked "site or domain" - then type your search terms above.

Sometimes, searching this way will produce more results than a search using the website's search box.  It may also help you to retrieve information that has been archived in Google but since removed from the website.
