What is a DOI?

• A digital object identifier (DOI) is a unique number used to identify an electronic resource, usually an article.
• It provides a permanent link to the article.
• Many citation styles, including APA require the DOI for journal articles if one is provided

How to locate a DOI?

The DOI is usually listed on the document. If not, you can use the DOI Finder Tool.

1. Go to the DOI Finder
2. Click on DOI # Finder tab (upper right corner)
3. Type in the article title
4. Type in the last name of the first author
5. If there is a DOI listed on the results screen, copy it and format it correctly for APA
