Genealogy: Introduction

Genealogy is one of America's fastest growing hobbies. Families, individuals, the young and the old, can easily participate in constructing a family history. To help library users, this guide provides basic information on the genealogical research materials available at the Alvin Sherman Library, as well as resources available online and in the immediate community.

The NSU Alvin Sherman Library houses the former library of the Genealogical Society of Broward County. The library contains over 3,000 books and periodicals on genealogy. This generous gift serves as the cornerstone for genealogy resources in the library.
