The Florida Emergency Preparedness Association (FEPA) was created in 1956 to help professional Emergency Managers work to protect the people of Florida.

Pursuant to the Emergency Planning and Community Right-To-Know Act, a Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) is responsible for preparing a regional hazardous materials emergency response plan, serves as a repository for regional hazardous materials information, and performs outreach functions to increase hazardous materials awareness.
