Showering Love - Awareness on Homelessness
3:00 p.m. | Cotilla Gallery

Why do we judge someone we don't know? Most people are only a few paychecks away from being homeless themselves. Let's stand united in ending stereotypes and preconceived notions. Showering Love spreads awareness on homelessness by sharing personal experiences and correcting misconceptions. When we share our own personal stories about homelessness, we are combating misinformation - and this encourages understanding and compassion. Let's live in harmony and care for one another We help by being the voice for those who have no voice - only a cardboard sign!

Jeananne Albaugh

Through a series of unfortunate choices, Jeanne went from the bustling streets of Park Avenue to a park bench, experiencing homelessness firsthand. She scurried from one place to another, sleeping wherever she could find shelter. Holding a sign under a bridge, she begged for money, and while people graciously provided food and money, one thing was missing: a place to shower. As time passed, her hygiene and personal appearance deteriorated, leading her to fit the stereotypical image of a homeless person.

Nights became long, dark, and desolate, filled with feelings of hopelessness, of being unwanted and unloved. But within this darkness, a spark of determination ignited. One day, Jeanne found the motivation to change her life. She decided it was time to move from homelessness to hope, from despair to action. She seized the opportunity offered by various programs supporting the homeless and began to address her issues one by one. Step by step, this journey led her to self-sufficiency and a renewed sense of purpose.

This deeply personal transformation is the driving force behind Showering Love. Jeanne knows firsthand what is possible when someone believes in you and extends a hand of support. She is committed to sharing that hope with people who are experiencing homelessness, showing them that with compassion, community, and determination, a brighter future is within reach.
