Study Rooms

Study Rooms
Rooms are available first-come, first-serve at the Library Front Desk.

All library study rooms at Tampa Bay are available during library hours for group study use for three (3) hour time periods.

Rooms have a maximum capacity of either 4 (in smaller rooms) and 6 (in larger rooms).

Room Policies (updated 4-10-24)

  • Keep noise volume to a minimum in the study rooms and library common spaces
  • Respect room capacities. No more than 4 patrons in a small room, and no more than 6 patrons in a large room.
  • Refrain from adding or removing furniture to the study rooms, and be mindful of room cleanliness.
  • Always bring your NSU Shark Card or state-issued I.D to check out items at the library.
  • To transfer an item to another patron, both patrons must come to the library with their NSU Shark Card or state-issued I.D in order to properly transfer.
  • Return items in the same condition as received (i.e. marker kits, anatomical models) and log out of any checked-out device before returning.
  • Please ensure that you return all items back to the library when they are due.

Important Notice: Study Room Usage (effective 7-22-25)

Study rooms are no longer permitted to be used as storage rooms or spaces. If you do not plan to actively use the room for studying, please remove your belongings and return the room key to the Library Circulation Desk.

Rooms left unattended with personal items may be considered abandoned and subject to reassignment.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our study spaces accessible to all students.

Abandoned Study Room Policy (effective 7-22-25)
In an effort to ensure equitable access to library study rooms, the following policy applies when a room is considered “Abandoned”:

1st Occurrence:

  • If a study room is overdue by 15 minutes or found with items but without students on walkthroughs, staff will begin monitoring the room.
  • At 30 minutes past the due time or end time of walkthroughs, the room will be declared abandoned.
  • The patron will receive an email warning about the abandonment.
  • 30 minutes after abandonment, Security and Circulation Staff will move any personal belongings to the Lost & Found at the Security Desk (1st Floor) so the room can be made available for others.

2nd Occurrence or More:

  • The same process will be followed.
  • The patron will be required to meet with Library Administration before being allowed to reserve or use a study room again.
  • A notice may be sent to the Dean or Director of the student’s academic program.

This policy is in place to ensure that all students have fair access to study spaces. Thank you for your cooperation.

Library Key Return Policy at Closing (effective 7-22-25)

All library keys must be returned to the Library Circulation Desk at least 5 minutes before closing.

Failure to return keys on time may result in the suspension of study room and borrowing privileges.

Please plan accordingly to avoid any disruptions to your library access.

Thank you for your cooperation.
