Journals

NSU Libraries subscribes to many computer and information science databases that provide access to journals, ebooks, conference proceedings, magazines, and more.

You can use the Full Text Finder tool to search for the title of a publication to see which database may have access. Should you need access to something that isn't available in our collection, then you can request we try to obtain access through our Interlibrary Loan Department.

Two prominent databases containing journals worth detailing here are IEEE Xplore and ACM Digital Library.

IEEE Xplore is the flagship digital platform for discovery and access to scientific and technical content published by the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and its publishing partners.

IEEE Xplore contains more than 6 million documents and other materials from some of the world's most cited publications in electrical engineering, computer science, and related sciences. Approximately 25,000 new content items are added to IEEE Xplore each month.

The content in IEEE Xplore comprises:

  • Over 1.5 million research articles
  • Over 4 million conference papers
  • Over 14,000 technical standards
  • Over 66,000 books and book chapters
  • Over 500 online educational courses

The ACM Digital Library is a research, discovery and networking platform containing:

  • The Full-Text Collection of all ACM publications, including journals, conference proceedings, technical magazines, newsletters and books.
  • A collection of curated and hosted full-text publications from select publishers.
  • The ACM Guide to Computing Literature, a comprehensive bibliographic database focused exclusively on the field of computing.
  • A richly interlinked set of connections among authors, works, institutions, and specialized communities.

Magazines

As mentioned in the Journals section above, some academic databases provide access to magazines in addition to other types of publications. Flipster is a database that specializes in popular magazines across a variety of subjects. Some of the science and technology magazines available in Flipster include:
