Your Library Card

You must have your library card with you to check out materials from the NSU Alvin Sherman Library.

The library does not accept driver's licenses or Broward County Library (BCL) cards to check out materials.

Anyone that lives, works, or goes to school in Broward County may apply for a FREE Alvin Sherman Library card! This card is not the same as a Broward County Library card, so you will need to get an Alvin Sherman Library card in order to check out materials from this library.

Applications are available online or at the Circulation Desk, located on the first floor of the library. You may return materials to any Broward County Library branch.

For NSU and University School students, faculty, staff, and alumni, your SharkCard is your library card to check out materials and access the library's online databases. For information how to get a SharkCard, please visit Campus Card Services

Office of Early Learning: School Readiness
Even before children attend prekindergarten, they gain from experiences that help them be ready for school. That is why school readiness is such an important part of early learning. The Florida Legislature recognized that when they passed the School Readiness Act to help children from low-income families get the support they need to be successful in school. While helping children prepare for school, the program provides child care so a parent can work or attend a training or education program.
Head Start: Early Childhood Learning & Knowledge Center
School readiness is foundational across early childhood systems and programs. It means children are ready for school, families are ready to support their children's learning, and schools are ready for children. Head Start views school readiness as children possessing the skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary for success in school and for later learning and life.
