Library Call Numbers

This guide details Library of Congress, Dewey, and Medical call numbers.

Cookbooks

Most cookbooks are found on the 4th floor of the library. They are organized by the type of recipes inside.

  • Do you need a book about a specific diet plan or dietary restrictions such as food allergies, low sodium, etc.?
    • Go to the RM214 - 258 section.
  • Do you need a general cookbook such as recipes for cupcakes, Mexican food, or slow cookers?
    • Go to the TX642 - 840 section.

Browsing Tips

  1. Search an author's name or recipe type in the library catalog to find that section.
  2. Use the arrows on the moveable shelves.
    • Select the screen and lightly tap the arrow to move the shelf.

Picture example using Indian Food Cookbooks:

  1. Indian food cookbooks will be in the general cookbooks under the call number TX724.5.
  2. Use the call numbers on the end of the shelves to find the section for TT871 - TX819.2

3. Move along the shelf until you see books about the type of food you are looking for.
