Company Research

This guide is a collection of resources that will help you with your company research. You can look for ready made profiles or you can compile information from a variety of sources to get a clear picture of your potential competitors, clients or partners.

Key resources for competitors

Information on competitors can be found in the following databases in our library collection. Below you will also find some strategies you can use to easily find it in our databases. 

  • icon of a building = Users listed next to this icon have access on campus. (This will often say ALL indicating all users have access on campus. There are a few exceptions.) 
  • icon of a house = Users listed next to this icon have access off campus.

Search tips:

  • Search by company name and limit to full text, select relevant profile from Hoover’s Company Records and scroll down to the Competition section.

Gale Business: Insights

Search tips:

  •  From Browse go to Companies and do a ticker or name search. Company competitors are listed below financial information. 

Mergent Online

Search tips:

  • Search by company name, then click on the Competitors tab.
  • Alternatively, search by company name, select desired company, then click on Company reports (last tab on the right) – choose Company reports or Mergent reports. Under Company reports you will find Expanded Fundamental reports – download them to find peer comparisons (plus other useful information).
