Financial Ratios

Industry ratios and additional financial information can be found in the following databases in our library collection. Below you will also find some strategies you can use to easily find ratios in our databases. 

•  = Users listed next to this icon have access on campus. (This will often say ALL indicating all users have access on campus. There are a few exceptions.) 
•  = Users listed next to this icon have access off campus.

Search tips:

• Start by choosing Plunkett in Publication title – PUBLICATION (box to the right) combined with industry related keyword (for example, hotel) in Document title – TITLE. Check Full text under Limit to, below the search boxes. Once results page displays results, click on Full text – PDF link to open reports.

Search tips:

• Search for “Worldwide Industry Market Reports” in Publication title – PUBLICATION.  Combine this with industry related keyword and select Document text – FULLTEXT or Document title – TITLE in the drop down menu box to the right. Check the Full text box below the search boxes. These reports include a short Industry Ratios section.

Search tips:

• Navigate to desired industry from Browse industry profile under the search box or do a keyword search. Once a relevant report is identified, go to Financial information from the menu on the left. A selection on financial ratios can  be found in the Company benchmark information section.

• See Key Statistics section – click on the red arrow to navigate to Industry Financial Ratios.

Technical Notes: Understanding the Industry Financial Ratios 

Search tips:

• Start from the Ratios tab to access ratios by SIC or NAICS code or line of business. You can filter for company size by assets value or year, the navigate to various types of ratios from the tabs below.
• Ratios are divided into 3 categories – solvency, efficiency, profitability; switch from one to the other by clicking on the 3 tabs located at the top of the page.

Search tips:

• Analytics – Financial ratios – Industry level. Provides 70+ industry-level financial ratios across eight different categories (valuation, liquidity, profitability, financial soundness, etc.). Once on the Financial Ratios Suite by WRDS page, choose the Financial Ratios option (not the option that says “with IBES subscription).
