Library Lingo

Explanation:

sample call number labels on book spinesA call number is like an address that tells you an item's exact location on a shelf within the library.

Call number ranges are labeled at the ends of each row of shelves. To locate an item on the shelf, find the correct range that corresponds to the item's call number and look down that row.

If you need help locating an item using its call number, library staff can help. If no one is nearby to help or if the moveable shelves are not working properly, you can use the beige phones located on the walls near the stairs and behind the elevators to call for help (no dialing necessary).
