Topics covered in this course include first-order separable, linear, and nonlinear differential equations, first-order systems, forced second order linear equations, qualitative techniques, bifurcations, numerical methods, linearization, and applications to numerous areas such as biology, chemistry, economics, physics, and social sciences.

Ordinary Differential Equations - MATH 3400

  1. Solve first- and second-order ordinary differential equations.
  2. Solve systems of differential equations.
  3. Perform a mathematical analysis of forcing and resonance effects for second-order differential equations.
  4. Linearization and qualitative analysis of nonlinear differential equations.
