Physician Assistant: Find Peer Reviewed Articles

Recommended resources for Dr. Pallavi Patel College of Health Care Sciences Physician Assistant Program students and faculty

Peer Reviewed Journals

Peer-reviewed (also called refereed) journals are recognized as scholarly by their academic or medical peers.

Some databases, such as CINAHL, allow you to limit your search to only peer reviewed journals. If you are using a database that does not provide this option, follow the instructions below. If peer reviewed status is important for your assignment, or if the status is in doubt, use the steps below.

Identify peer-reviewed journals by searching for the journal name (not the article title) in Ulrichweb.

  1. Go to Ulrichsweb
  2. Type in the journal name (not the article title)
  3. Look for the black icon to the left of the journal name. The icon is a referee's jersey.  Refereed = peer reviewed.
If there is no icon, the journal is not peer reviewed
    .

Example: Chest

Note:
If a journal is available in multiple formats, print, electronic, etc., there will be an entry for each in Ulrich's
.
