EndNote X9 Compatibility and System Requirements

Compatibility: Check your computer systems to see if they are ready to install EndNote. 

Note: If you have a Chromebook you will only be able to use the EndNote Online (Basic) account.

If your computer is ready, and you have memory available on the machine, install EndNote from NSU and then update the software. You must have administrative rights on the computer to install software and update it. Additional updates exist for new styles, filters, paper templates, etc.

A note those who have EndNote on their Mac/Apple computers: 

Apple released macOS 10.15 Catalina recently, and made the decision to drop all 32-bit application support with this release, which impacted EndNote. 
EndNote X9 for macOS has been extensively updated to work with all Apple computers. If you already have EndNote X9, please install all updates as they become available to avoid interruption in your workflow.

If you are running EndNote X8 or earlier versions on an Apple computer running another operating system it is still suggested you upgrade to EndNote X9.
