Searching your Endnote Library

So now that you have a library full of references, how do you find the specific one you are looking for? You can locate a single reference or a group of common references by using the Quick Search Box at the top of the screen or by opening the Search Panel

 


Steps

  1. Click on Show Search Panel. (top right side of screen) if it is hidden
  2. Type in your search term(s)
  3. Choose the field you wish to search (author, title, etc)
  4. Use the Boolean and and or to connect multiple terms
  5. Match Case will make your search case-sensitive; Match Word will force your search to find your exact words 
  6. Click on Search

 

 

Tip

Select the "Any Field + PDF Notes" from the dropdown box to search

  • Notes that you have added to your PDFs saved in EndNote
  • Notes you have added to the "Research Notes" field in any reference
