Alumni can also apply for a library card. Visit our alumni libguide to learn how!
The use of AI by students, researchers, and educators has grown quickly in the years since ChatGPT was first released. Despite initial resistance to the use of AI in education, more and more institutions and educators are making use of AI and GenAI products in their policies and courses.
Today's academic market is flooded with AI technologies. ITHAKA S+R has been studying the AI landscape and the impact of GenAI on higher education. As part of this project, they have catalogued various AI technologies and created a Generative AI Product Tracking Tool. The tools catalogued by ITHAKA S+R fall into three categories: Tools for Discovery, Tools for Understanding, and Tools for Creation. 1
This guide uses the three categories identified by ITHAKA S+R to highlight some popular AI tools. We have further divided the tools into two categories: AI Tools for Educators and AI Tools for Students.
For the full report on the ITHAKA S+R project and additional information about artificial intelligence and its use in education, please see the bibliography below.
