Tools for Educators

Journal Finder (by Trinka)

Journal Finder uses advanced AI concept-matching technologies to help you locate journals across different disciplines and publications to find the most appropriate journal for your manuscript. This is an Independent tool.

GradeWrite

This tool helps instructors grade essays and assignments. It has bulk grading, auto-checker for word count and originality and personalized feedback. It also permits custom rubrics and manual edits to AI-generated feedback. 
 

Gradescope

This is an AI grader by Turnitin that lets instructors grade assignments in class or online. It is used by over 140,000 instructors from universities like Purdue and NYU. Instructor can use it to grade multiple subjects that include problem sets, bubble sheets, quizzes, exams and worksheets. It offers a flexible rubric and comment functionality to provide meaningful feedback and includes per-rubric and per-paper statistics to assess a student's performance. 

 

Grammarly AI Detector

One of the most popular AI checkers, trained to identify AI-generated text. Educators can use it to see what percentage of students’ text seems AI-generated but note these tools can misinterpret writing styles at times. The tool also offers comprehensive writing support, helping users at every step of the writing process, from brainstorming to revising. 
 

ZeroGPT

You can easily detect whether text is human-written or AI/GPT generated. This AI text detector displays the percentage of AI/GPT plagiarized text for an in-depth analysis of content. The company claims 99% and higher accuracy rate.

Revisely

This AI quiz generator can transform any content, including notes, textbooks, PDFs or PowerPoints into a comprehensive quiz in seconds. The tool can be used to reinforce learning or assess knowledge for students and professionals alike.

Microsoft Copilot

All NSU staff has access to Copilot - Microsoft Copilot is an innovative AI-driven tool that harnesses the power of machine learning and natural language processing. Its purpose is to enhance productivity, inspire creativity, and elevate collaboration within the Microsoft ecosystem. Beyond mere assistance, Copilot offers intelligent suggestions, valuable insights, and it automates repetitive tasks. Copilot can save time for educators, staff, and higher education students to focus on what matters most.

 

Turnitin

Turnitin’s AI writing & paraphrasing capabilities help educators identify when AI writing tools such as ChatGPT or text spinners may have been used in students’ submissions.

InfoLit Core- Educator AI Tutorial

InfoLit Core 

The Teaching Resources: AI Literacy tutorial provides practical guidance and resources for lesson planning, setting policies, designing assignments, and fielding questions from students and colleagues. It includes a suite of resources for starting a discussion about AI with your students, academic integrity frameworks, and suggestions for activities that incorporate AI. 

Practical Tips for Navigating AI in the Classroom

  1. Clearly define what you consider to be cheating in your classroom.
  2. Also define the consequences of plagiarism, both in your classroom and beyond.
  3. Provide assignments that require students to express their original thoughts and opinions, which are harder to find in the work of others.
  4. Demonstrate AI tools and show your students how it can be used in ways that are acceptable.
  5. Teach students about the limitations of AI tools.
  6. Stress the importance of privacy and not contributing personal information to AI tools.
