Basic Look at Video Editing

A basic look at the video editing applications iMovie & Adobe Premiere Rush

Title

To add a title to your project on a Mac click Title at the top of the screen. This gives you options of the style of titles to add to your project. On an iOS device tap the T at the bottom of the screen. This gives you the option to type out a title for your project. For both Mac and iOS you can drag where you would like the title to be placed.

Background

To add a background on a Mac you must click Backgrounds at the top of the screen. You can click and drag these background options to where you would like in the project. For an iOS device tap the plus sign and then Backgrounds. From there you can choose a background and insert where to put it in the project.

Transitions

Transitions can be added on a Mac through the tab on the top. Click and drag the transition to where you would like in your project. On an iOS device tap the space in between to video clips. The transition options will appear at the bottom of the device screen. For both Mac and iOS you have the ability to choose how long the transition will last.

Speed

You can change the speed of a clip, or portion of a clip by choosing the Speed tab. For Mac it is located at the top of the screen and for iOS it is at the bottom. On a Mac you have the option of changing the entire clips speed rate, choosing portions of a clip to change the speed rate, or playing a clip in reverse. On iOS the speed adjustments are more limited. You can drag the slider towards the turtle to make the clip slower, or towards the rabbit to make the clip faster.

Clip Filters

You can modify the appearance of your clips by using the Clip Filter tab. There are different filters to chooses from on both Mac and iOS. The tab is located at the top of the screen, Mac, and the bottom of the screen, iOS.
