Why should I join a 'Professional Organization' as a student?

As a student, you are probably eligible for reduced membership & conference fees.
Your membership provides you with a great opportunity to network via meetings, conferences, online professional networking and electronic listservs.
Attending conventions & conferences as a student is usually cheaper and gives you the opportunity to attend lectures by experts in the field.
Some organizations and association offer grants or scholarships for student members.
Most professional organizations have a career section of their website which provides career/resume advice and current job openings.
Most Organizations publish their own publications which are devoted to issues & delevopments in your specialty area.
Many offer discounts in their their online bookstore.
If nothing else.....it looks good on a resume!
