EndNote 21

Step 4: Citation Styles

Endnote comes preloaded with a few popular citation styles (called Output styles in EndNote) on the EndNote Toolbar. The style you choose will change the way your in-text citations and bibliography are formatted in your Word document.

To change the output style in your EndNote library:

  1. Go to the Tools menu on the top toolbar and select Output Styles
  2. Select the desired style

If your style is not listed on the toolbar, browse the Output Styles List for it:

  1. Click on the Tools dropdown.
  2. Choose Output Styles and then Output Style Manager.
  3. Scroll through the list to find the desired style and check off the style you wish to add.
  4. Close out of the pop-up and the citation style should be automatically saved in your Output Styles list from now on.
